The new Instant Omni Plus Air Fryer Review

The new Instant Omni Plus Air Fryer Review

Today, I am reviewing the Instant Omni Plus and the Emeril Everyday air fryers. Air-fryers have gained in popularity in the last two years, and it is easy to see why. It makes cooking at home quick, easy, and air frying is a very healthy way to eat some of your favorite "fried" foods at home. Here on the Coffee Homestead I love that with my air fryer I don't have to be the only one who cooks. The homestead is nearly a two-hour trip to a restaurant, so I cook every meal at home. That's a lot of work! But my air fryer gives my family the opportunity to quickly make themselves some lunch and saves on dishes! But what options and functions should you be looking for when purchasing an air fryer for your family? Let's start with my pick...... The Omni Plus air fryer from Instant. I have had mine for almost 2 years and the style has changed a little bit, but the size and the functions are the same. ***Please note, that I have not been paid for this review and my opinions are my own.** The difference in functions can be a little confusing, so here is a brief run-down of the default settings. I will provide some more in-depth settings and options in a future article. These are specific to my oven but they are very similar in the Emeril oven as well. Air Fry: 450º Top elements and fan. Bake: 180º-450º Top and bottom elements, fan hi/lo, rotisserie. Broil: 350º-450º Top elements, fan hi/lo and rotisserie. Dehydrate: 85º-175º Bottom elements, fan hi/lo and rotisserie Toast: 1-5 level Time 1:20min-4:20min top and bottom elements. Reheat: 120º-360º Bottom element. Proof: 70º-100º Bottom element. For more functions and details follow this link to the Omni Plus Owners Manual. Instant Omni Plus New Menu Layout Rotisserie Function Large Capacity Instant Omni Plus Pros Size: Let's start with size, as this was an important part of my decision. The Omni Plus oven measures 17.68 x 16.34 x 14.39. The Omni is one of the few that has the capacity to bake a 12-inch pizza, make a 5lb rotisserie chicken, and fry enough fries for up to 5 people at one time. When I was looking to purchase this was the largest air fryer under $300. Operation This is where this oven really shines, it is unbelievably easy to use, especially compared to other ovens. To understand what I mean let me first explain the basic difference between air fryer ovens and a standard oven. Conventional ovens are larger, heat is dissipated differently, 400º in a conventional oven does not cook, and brown food as quickly as 400º in an air-fryer. The air-fryer uses several different heat sources at the same time to really sear or fry the outside of your food quickly. So the recipes that you use for oven-fried chicken, pork chops, or fries will have to be converted to prevent burning in the air fryer. Who wants to look up and rework all of your recipes for use in the air-fryer? Not me, and in my research, this is where the Omni is far better than the others. It is so easy my 10 year old can use it. First, you select the function: bake, air-fry, roast, toast, etc., then you select the type of food: chicken, beef, fries, wings, cake, etc. The oven sets the temperature by function and the time by food type, obviously, sometimes you will adjust the time based on how big or small your food is, but it really is that simple. In most ovens you choose what function that you want, then you have to input a temperature for that function, then you have to convert or adjust the time for a recipe to know how long to cook. The Omni gives you a very close starting point that needs little to no adjustment. For someone who does not enjoy cooking the speed and quickness of an air-fryer is very appealing, but if you get one that you have to spend 10 minutes looking up a recipe or trying to recalculate it, then you are not saving any time. This becomes a bigger issue if you are not a technology person as well, and it is, unfortunately, the problem with most of the other air-fryer ovens that I have seen and tested. Cons: The only con that I have found is that the oven is not super easy to clean. All the accessories and parts are dishwasher friendly, but the oven itself has a lot of nooks and crannies that are difficult to get to and clean, and the inside finish is also a little odd. You can cover the removable crumb tray with foil to help make it easier to clean the bottom. ***Take my advice and DO NOT use regular oven cleaner on it as it will remove the inside finish!*** Emeril Lagasse AirFryer 360 Emeril 360 Air Fryer Emeril 360 Air Fryer Accessories Size This oven measures 19" x 15" x 9.5" and is about the same size as the Omni, though it seems to be a little less wide on the inside because the control panel is on the right rather than the top. I know that you can still fit one of the small square pizza's in this oven but I don't think that the medium pizza would fit. It will as the picture shows can rotisserie a 4lb chicken. Operation This oven performs most of the same functions as...

Poultry – Brining Foolproof Juicy Chicken!

Poultry – Brining Foolproof Juicy Chicken!

Cooking 101 - Poultry tips and tricks, the brine.Probably the most important step in ensuring succulent, well seasoned poultry is brining. With just a couple of minutes of prep you are on your way to success that will have everyone bragging about your cooking. Why is brining so effective at keeping meat moist, well lets look at how it works. Brining is using salt to trap to do two things: First to trap moisture in the protien strands of your meat, Second salt reacts with the protiens, preventing the protien strands from constricting during the cooking process and squeezing the trapped moisture out. Science is amazing right! Brines can be as simple as salt and water and they can be complex including fresh citrus, herbs, spices, juices and so much more. Let's dive into brines and up your poultry game, you will have friends and family enjoying your cooking more than ever before! #1 Plan ahead:  I mean wayyyy ahead, and make your life simple. I do the grocery shopping for a month at a time and plan out my menus in advance. So when I get the groceries home, I start prepping my proteins for meals I will cook later in the month. So divide up your packages and throw your preferred brining solutions together and season the meat, vacuum seal, or get as much air out of the bag as possible, then freeze. The time it takes to defrost will serve as your brining time the day you make it, how easy is that! #2 Dry Brine:  I used to exclusively wet brine, but I don't always have the fridge space for that, but extended salt rubs (like for turkey) can make the skin tough. Solution: rub softened butter to the inside of the skin before rubbing salt and seasoning on the meat under the skin, seal and freeze. Brining as a flavor Oportunity  Like I said before, brines can also be an opportunity to really up the flavor as well as the juiciness of the protein. Brines can also add depth and complexity to your culinary creations. Whether you're a seasoned chef or a home cook, exploring the world of herbs and spices will take your poultry dishes to new heights. Herbs like rosemary, thyme, and sage are perfect companions for poultry. Their aromatic essence infuses the meat, creating a tantalizing aroma that will leave your taste buds yearning for more. The earthy notes of rosemary, the subtle warmth of thyme, and the savory flavor of sage perfectly complement the natural richness of poultry, making each bite a delightful experience. Spices, on the other hand, bring a burst of flavors that awakens your senses. The warm embrace of cinnamon, the gentle heat of paprika, and the fragrant touch of cloves can transform a simple chicken dish into a masterpiece. From cumin to coriander, ginger to turmeric, the world of spices offers endless possibilities to create a symphony of flavors that will captivate and satisfy your palate. Adding nutritional and health bennifits to your brine. But the benefits of using herbs and spices in poultry dishes go beyond taste. Many of these ingredients are known for their health-promoting properties. Turmeric, for instance, boasts anti-inflammatory properties, while garlic is known to support a healthy immune system. By incorporating these herbs and spices into your poultry dishes, you not only elevate the flavor but also enhance the nutritional value of your meals. So, how can you start experimenting with herbs and spices? In a small bowl, mix fresh, dried herbs, spices, or garlic with kosher salt and rub into the salt. Rub your mix into the meat under the skin and allow the flavors to penetrate the meat, tenderizing it and infusing it with a burst of taste.  The possibilities are endless, and the results are always rewarding. As you embark on your flavor-boosting journey, remember to experiment and trust your taste buds. Each herb and spice brings its unique character to the table, allowing you to create dishes that reflect your culinary style. Whether you prefer a subtle and delicate touch or a bold and vibrant explosion of flavors, herbs and spices offer a world of possibilities waiting to be explored. My favorite brine blends and reccomendations   I don't include measurements but have listed the ingredients in order from most to least, but feel free to adjust according to your own personal taste. Some of my favorite combinations:  1. Warm spice and bright lemon: Salt, lemon zest, thyme, sage, nutmeg, & ground cloves (when cooking this combination I add a cinnamon stick to the dish) 2. Classic roast chicken, homey: Salt, rosemary, thyme, sage, minced garlic, & course, ground pepper 3. Mexican, for tacos or fajitas: Salt, cumin, minced garlic, ground coriander, cloves, chili powder, course, ground pepper & smoked paprika 4. Delicate French flavors: Salt, fresh lavender, lemon zest, thyme, nutmeg, & ground pepper (when cooking this combination I roast it in milk with lemon peels, honey drizzle, and cinnamon stick) 5. Grilled chicken thighs with crispy skins: Salt, (favorite grill poultry...

Hi, I am Kara Coffee, Welcome to my homestead!

I am an accidental farm girl, I was living in the city when I met my husband. He was a cowboy, and the closest I had been to a cow was a steak at the grocery store. I have always wanted to have a large garden and lots of livestock. The idea of being self-sufficient or as close to as possible has always appealed to me. Even before the uncertainty of a pandemic. So, welcome y’all, you may as well stay awhile and find something yummy for dinner!
